About this recipe
When to use it
Two channels can bring the same signup volume and completely different retention curves. This tracks weekly cohort retention at W1/W4/W12 benchmarks, split by acquisition source, so the quality difference becomes visible.
What it delivers
Tracks weekly cohort retention at W1, W4, and W12 benchmarks, compared across acquisition sources to surface which channels bring durable users versus one-time signups.
How you prompt this
Describe the outcome in your own words and Blu Agent maps it to this recipe, or run it by name. It drafts a plan first and nothing runs until you approve it.

Inputs & outputs
What the recipe needs before it runs, and what it leaves in your workspace.
Inputs
- Nothing declared beyond an Intempt workspace. Blu asks for anything else it needs as it goes.
Outputs
How the recipe runs
Blu follows the steps in order and shows you each one before anything goes live.
- 01Track weekly signup cohortsCreate a Retention report called "Weekly User Retention". Anchor event: User created Return event: Session start Cohort granularity: Weekly Time range: Last 12 weeks (require cohorts to have completed full 12-week return window where possible) Breakdown: By Users.UTM source (acquisition source) Compare: Previous period (prior 12 weeks of cohorts) Chart type: Retention curve (line per cohort) plus cohort table with W1 / W4 / W12 columns Annotations: - Add horizontal benchmarks: W1 retention 40% (B2B SaaS median), W4 25%, W12 15%. - Flag any cohort where W1 retention dropped >5 percentage points vs. the prior cohort. - Highlight the source with the strongest W12 retention (highest-quality acquisition channel). - Identify whether retention curves are flattening over time (good (natural retention forming a plateau) or continuously decaying (bad) no stable user base forming). Surface the source-by-source retention gap at W4: the moment by which most low-quality signups have churned out. Taxonomy notes: - User created and Session start are canonical. Users.UTM source is the canonical first-touch attribute.
